He brings deep experience across the renewable energy industry, having held positions in both development (Delaware River Solar, Safari Energy) and private equity (Hudson Clean Energy, GE EFS). Ben began his career in power and utilities investment banking and holds both a BA and MBA from Columbia University.

Rob co-chairs the Board of Directors and focuses on the strategic development of the Firm. He joined the firm in 2017 and prior to this, was a Senior Managing Director and Head of Guggenheim Partner’s Real Estate Finance Group where he built a national commercial mortgage loan origination and asset management business responsible for nearly $10 billion of client investment portfolios. He was a principal investor in and Co-Founder of Pillar Financial, a full-service real estate platform (sold to SunTrust in 2016). Rob also served as the Global Head of Credit Suisse’s Real Estate Finance and Securitization Group and previously worked at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette. He began his career in 1983 in the investment banking division of E.F. Hutton. Rob earned his B.A. from UVM and his M.B.A from NYU’s Stern School of Business.

Ron co-chairs the Board of Directors, assists in fundraising and drives strategic growth and development of the firm. He joined the company in 2016 and prior to this, was a Senior Managing Director at Guggenheim Partners where he ran the Fixed Income Division and worked on asset-backed securities, mortgage backed securities, commercial real estate, corporate credit, high-yield credit, leveraged loans, investment-grade loans, municipal bonds and public finance as well as structured finance origination and distribution. Ron was also a Managing Director at First Albany where he managed fixed income sales and trading. Prior to this, he was a Principal at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette where he managed the proprietary origination business. Ron graduated with a Bachelors in Economics from St. Francis College.

Michael oversees all areas of accounting, tax, valuation, and financial reporting, serving as Greenbacker’s Chief Accounting Officer and Controller. He joined the firm in 2019, bringing nearly 20 years of experience in finance and accounting. Prior to Greenbacker, Michael served as CAO at a large public company in the senior living industry, where he led the restructuring of the financial accounting, operational accounting, and financial reporting departments. He also served as a member of the Executive Steering Committee and was a departmental leader for several systems implementations. Before that, he worked in the international accounting space, where he gained extensive experience with SEC regulations and financial due diligence practices. Michael received his BA in Accounting and Information Systems from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Spencer is an EVP at Greenbacker and leads finance and operations at the firm, serving as its Chief Financial Officer. He joined the company in 2011, before which he was a Vice President in the Leveraged Finance Group at Deerfield Capital Management. While there, he performed in depth due diligence and financial analyses, negotiated loan documentation, and monitored over 20 private middle-market first lien, second lien, mezzanine, and one-stop senior secured debt investments. Spencer began his career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch after graduating magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business with a BS in Economics and a concentration in Finance and Marketing.

Mehul leads all of the firm’s origination and deal execution, while also overseeing the analysis, structuring, and negotiation of all acquisitions. Before joining the company in 2016, he was an Associate on the Global Renewable Power team at BlackRock, where he structured and executed investments in the North American renewables space. He has also worked in Equity Research at UBS. While there, he covered alternative energy and semiconductor capital equipment companies, worked with the COO of Recurrent Energy on construction and operations of solar assets, and helped analyze deals for bidding and executing Power Purchase Agreements. Prior to that, Mehul began his career as a power and natural gas options trader at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Mehul graduated from NYU with a BA in Mathematics and Economics and received his MBA from the Yale School of Management.

Matt is the firm’s Chief Operations Officer, overseeing operation and maintenance, fleet performance, and technical due diligence on transactions. He joined the firm in 2016, coming from Borrego Solar, where he served as Director of O&M. In this position, he oversaw a 500-megawatt fleet of solar power plants across 11 states, managed a national O&M team, and was responsible for the highest level of escalation in the department. Prior to that, he worked at the electrical contracting company Peck Electric, where he was instrumental in creating and running Peck’s solar photovoltaics (PV) division. While there, Matt oversaw the design, developments, construction, and maintenance of solar PV capacity totaling over 5 megawatts. Matt also has five years of experience teaching PV construction and troubleshooting to electricians in several states and is certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy.

Christine builds and manages Greenbacker’s relationships in the broker/dealer community. She brings deep experience in alternative investment platform management, distribution, marketing, and due diligence. Her previous positions include roles at Select Capital Corporation, LPL Financial, and First Allied Securities. Christine has a BSBA in Finance from Hawaii Pacific University and holds Series 4, 7, 24, 53, 55, 63, and 66 security licenses.

Quinn is a Principal in the Greenbacker Development Opportunities Fund , working on principal investments, fundraising and portfolio management – he joined the newly formed group in 2021. Prior to Greenbacker, he held multiple direct investing positions on both the buy side, and sell side, of the energy industry focused primarily on renewable direct investment. Before joining Greenbacker, Quinn worked at Nomura for four years where he was a founding member of the infrastructure and power finance group. During his tenure at Nomura, he led the underwriting of over $1.5bn of credit products to renewable energy assets and portfolios. Before Nomura, Quinn was in NRG’s corporate finance group, working on M&A transactions, project financings and corporate financings. Quinn graduated from Fordham University with degrees in Economics and Sustainable Business.

Bailey has been a member of the Greenbacker Investments team since 2018. In her role as Principal of Investments, she is responsible for originating, evaluating, modeling, and performing diligence on acquisition opportunities. She manages, on average, five to 10 acquisitions at any given time, across the sustainable infrastructure space such as C&I and utility scale solar, wind and storage portfolios. Bailey came to Greenbacker after working as part of the Power, Energy and Renewables team at Guggenheim Partners. During her time there, she focused on selling various combined-cycle gas assets, as well as selling a few renewable energy development companies and their accompanying platforms. Bailey graduated with honors from the Emory University Goizueta Business School, earning a BBA with a concentration in Finance and International Business.

Brandon is responsible for co-managing the development and execution of all capital raising initiatives across the business. He has more than 10 years of experience in the financial services and alternative investment industry. This includes his position as a regional vice president for Strategic Capital, an open architecture wholesale distribution platform for public and private real estate investment programs, credit and lending programs, and other alternative investments, including the distribution of Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company’s public program. Prior to that, he served as the National Product Manager for energy products at Realty Capital Securities, after starting his career at Morgan Stanley, where he performed various roles within the distribution of their investment management platform. Brandon earned a BA in Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University.

David oversees all strategic business development efforts as CEO of Greenbacker Capital Management. Prior to co-founding the firm in 2011, he was a senior adviser at Prospect Capital, a leading publicly traded business development company. He has been a serial entrepreneur in the financial services industry, having co-founded ESP Technologies—a leading provider of financial software and services to institutional asset managers and hedge funds—as well as two other companies, ElephantX dot com and Lafayette Capital Management. He also worked at Bear Sterns, developing trading strategies for institutional and brokerage correspondent clearing customers. David graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in Political Science and received his MIA from the School of International Public Affairs at Columbia University.

Jeff is co-Head of Business Development at Greenbacker, leading the firm’s efforts with family offices and wealth management institutions and platforms. Before joining the company in 2017, he was the Director of Institutional Sales at Strategic Capital, where he led sales efforts for a platform of alternative investment strategies to the institutional market. He has also worked as a Regional Director for Realty Capital and as a Managing Director at ImpactAssets, where he headed national fundraising efforts for an impact investing and philanthropic platform with ultra-high net worth individuals and institutions. Prior to this, Jeff held vice president positions with MainStay Investments and Fidelity Investments, working with wirehouse institutions and registered investment advisors. Jeff graduated from Babson College, in Wellesley, Massachusetts with a BSBA.

Ben Tillar, CFA has been a member of the Greenbacker Investments team since 2019. In his role as Vice President of Investments, he is responsible for the execution of acquisitions, as well as tax equity and debt structuring. During his tenure at Greenbacker, Ben has acquired solar and wind projects amounting to 390 megawatts and has closed $230 million of tax equity and debt facilities. Ben came to Greenbacker after working at Invenergy, a renewable energy developer based in Chicago, where he was part of the Project Finance and Asset Management teams. During his time at Invenergy, he focused on arranging construction debt, term debt, and tax equity for Invenergy’s construction pipeline and managed approximately one gigawatt of operational wind assets. Ben graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Economics.

Claude is an EVP at Greenbacker and leads all legal activities at the firm, serving as General Counsel. She joined the company in 2022, before which she was Senior Fund Counsel at Global Infrastructure Partners, where she was responsible for overseeing all fund matters including product design for both equity and credit products as well as negotiation with investors. Previously, Claude served as Deputy General Counsel at I Squared Capital (an infrastructure fund) for over seven years, overseeing general corporate and transactional matters, including fund formation, fundraising and co-investments as well as compliance and regulatory activities.
Claude began her career at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in New York after graduating from Paris II Pantheon – ASSAS UNIVERSITY and completing her LLM at Columbia University School of Law, in New York.

Charles oversees all strategic business development efforts as CEO of Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company. Prior to joining the company in 2011, he held various senior positions in his 24-year career with Macquarie Group, including Head of Renewables for North America. In that role, he evaluated a wide variety of renewable energy companies and projects across the US in the wind, solar, geothermal, waste-to-energy, and biomass spaces. Before moving to the US in 2007, Charles was a Director in the Financial Products Group in Australia, responsible for the development, distribution, and management of a wide variety of retail financial products. Charles graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Economics and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia.

David Zackowitz is a Managing Director and Head of Greenenergyglobe Real Estate, where he is responsible for overseeing the firm’s sustainable real estate investment strategy. David has over 20 years of experience in real estate principal investments, asset management, and portfolio company oversight. He has acquired and implemented value-add strategies for $25 billion of commercial properties. Prior to joining Greenenergyglobe, David spent seven years working in both acquisitions and asset management at Blackstone, and previously held senior roles investing in and restructuring distressed real estate at C-III Capital Partners and the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy estate. David began his career as a member of Lehman’s Global Real Estate Group in 2001 where he spent seven years underwriting, structuring, and acquiring real estate investments throughout the United States. David received a BS in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University.
